Funny article! Some people need cell phones and some don't. I feel that if you have an occupation that benefits from the use of a cell...sneak away and use it! I actually know someone that had an 800.00/month cell bill for 4 camera phones for herself and her children. She didn't have a job and her kids didn't participate in after school activities(unless you consider partying an activity)! Her estranged husband of 16 years was expected to pay the bill, however he couldn't afford one for himself. This was the same guy that drove a 1980 sedan, and was required to travel 5 hours on the road to get to work. He somehow got by without one....but she couldn't; even though she rarely left the house to drive her new car to the corner store. I guess she needed it to text her reflexologist!? Good luck altering the mindset of the inconsiderate fools that find themselves unloved or out of touch if the phone isn't ringing in the middle of the movie theater.
Hi Maureen. You've said it all. My husband and I leave our phones off. We've disabled text messaging and messages of any kind (you pay for them whether you want them or not). We pay for any minutes that we do use. They're for emergencies only. That is, I think, the best use of cell phones. I mean, look at how much business was conducted before their advent. And we all got along just fine for many years without them. I'm all for progress, but not all progress is inherently good. Thanks for a great article,Dianne
Great article Maureen. I agree with you completely. Thanks for sharing this and it is a very enjoyable read. ~Nenita~
